I joined the 2011 Global Reading Challenge hosted by Dorte H. It is a wonderful way to encourage reading more and new stuff. As part of this challenge I might pick up books which I wouldn’t have normally. So this will help me expand my horizon.
I enrolled in the “Easy Level” where I have to read one novel from each of these continents in the course of 2011:
- Asia – (my own continent) – The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
- Europe – Room by Emma Donaghue, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
- North America
- South America (please include Central America where it is most convenient for you) – One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
- The Seventh Continent (here you can either choose Antarctica or your own ‘seventh’ setting, eg the sea, the space, a supernatural/paranormal world, history, the future – you name it).
From your own continent: try to find a country, state or author that is new to you.
I’ll update my latest position in the challenge on this page as and when I read a book and write down the review.
Wish me Happy Reading!!
